Shri Swaminarayan Mandir – Neasden

A while back as I flicked through a Timeout magazine on my commute to work and came across of a photo of Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. I had no idea a building so majestic and stunning existed in London, I mean there are a lot of beautiful architecture in London but I expected something like this to be in Asia.

The Mandir is free to visit but there are a few guidelines you need to follow which can be found on their site here. I didn’t go into the temple as I ate meat earlier that day but walked around the outside and that was impressive itself. The temple is made of limestone and marble with intricate carvings and spires. You can’t get up close as some of it’s gated but doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate the beauty from afar because it is beautiful.

I’m definitely going to come back and visit when I’m in the area again and explore the inside of the Mandir.
